Canine hydrotherapy also known as (Aquatic therapy) allows dog’s to do exercises in the water to help gain strength, increase the range of motion and endurance while reducing the risk of injury. In water the dog is able to contract its muscles without having to bear weight on them. Dog Hydrotherapy Pools has become very popular in recent years.

Pool4Paws Canine Hydrotherapy Centre was set up in January 2011 and is based just outside of Newton Abbot in Devon. The Centre is easily accessible and regularly performs canine hydrotherapy on dog’s from all areas of Devon: Torquay, Paignton, Brixham, Newton Abbot, Kingsteignton, Totnes, Exeter, Kingsbridge, Bovey Tracey and Chudleigh Areas. The Centre has a large state of the art heated canine hydrotherapy pool which measures 20ft x 10ft with a built in ramp for easy access. There are two jets which enables us to carry out a number of different canine hydrotherapy treatment programmes as well as fitness swimming for the canine athlete. We also have an underwater treadmill at our Centre which can be used for canine rehabilitation or fitness. Pool4Paws also has a treatment room equipped with rehabilitation equipment such as Laser, Phototherapy, PEMF, Ultrasound and land exercise equipment.

Our team of experienced canine hydrotherapy and rehabilitation specialists aim to resolve your dog’s mobility problems using a wide range of hydrotherapy and rehabilitation treatment techniques in our specialist dog hydrotherapy pool. Staff at Pool4Paws is trained to the industry requirement which is the ABC Level 3 in Canine Hydrotherapy but to provide the best service we can and to gain better outcomes we have completed further study and gained qualification in other areas of canine rehabilitation, veterinary physiotherapy and animal welfare. All Staff are full members of Institute of Canine Hydrotherapists (ICH). Terry is also a full member of Institute of Registered Veterinary & Animal Physiotherapists.

Pool4Paws is based just outside of Newton Abbot in Devon.
If you drive along the A381 Newton Abbot and Totnes Road, you will arrive into Ipplepen. When you see the sign for Ipplepen Business Park and Animal in Distress, turn onto Edgelands Lane and we are directly on the left; opposite Southern Timber. We are easily accessible from Newton Abbot, Kingsteignton, Torquay, Paignton, Brixham, Totnes, Exeter, Kingsbridge, Dartmouth, Bovey Tracey, Chudleigh

We start the hydrotherapy session discussing progress or any issue before showering the dog and fitting a harness or buoyancy jacket. The dog will undergo a canine hydrotherapy treatment in the pool or underwater treadmill. After finishing the therapy the dogs are showered followed by a discussion around rehabilitation exercises to be carried out before the next hydrotherapy treatment.
£30 per session which includes pre-hydrotherapy checks, hydrotherapy session, shower and finally rehabilitation exercises to assist your dog’s recovery.
Yes we can do fitness swimming; this is good for a dog’s fitness and improving Cardio-Vascular fitness. It is also good for weight loss.
We are very experienced in canine hydrotherapy and were one of the first canine hydrotherapy centres to open in Devon. The staff are qualified well beyond what the industry require and have extra qualifications in rehabilitation and physiotherapy.
Terry and Carly are both on the board of the Institute of Canine Hydrotherapists and Terry was co-opted onto the committee of IRVAP (Institute of Veterinary & Animal Physiotherapists).
These extra qualifications allows us to give you more than just the hydrotherapy treatment, we are qualified to devise a rehabilitation programme that will compliment the hydrotherapy treatment. The centre offers treatments with modalities such as laser, Phototherapy and PEMF Therapy; these go very well with hydrotherapy treatment and can aid a speedy recovery.

Canine Hydrotherapy, Physiotherapy and rehabilitation are classed as a veterinary treatment they fall under the veterinary surgeons act which only permits us to carry out hydrotherapy treatments after seeking permission from a veterinary surgeon.
